In collaboration with the Netflix Discovery team, we set out to reinvent how members find something to watch—shifting away from endless scrolling toward intentional, personalized recommendations. Weekly Drop was Netflix’s unique spin on the weekly content drop model, inspired by music culture. The goal: reduce decision fatigue, build new viewing habits, and give every member something to look forward to each week.

Opportunitiy: Create A Suprise-&-Delight Moment Thats Scannable & Personal

With members spending an average of 18 minutes searching before deciding what to watch, we identified a clear opportunity to reduce cognitive load. By curating a personalized, weekly drop of top-tier content, we aimed to drive habitual engagement while turning passive discovery into a high-signal, low-effort experience.

Designing For Discovery Across Mobile & TV

We crafted a cohesive experience that met members where they were—whether on-the-go or on the couch. By optimizing for platform-specific behaviors and constraints, we ensured that Weekly Drop felt intuitive and engaging on both mobile and TV, while maintaining consistency in tone, interaction, and personalization.
